PSANKY EGG CLASS

PYSANSKY EGG DECORATING CLASS by JOAN WAKEFIELD Saturday, March 18th 9 - 2 p.m.  Cost is $50. All supplies provided.

The process of making a Ukranian Egg begins with a raw egg. Melted beeswax is applied to the egg by had, using a tool called a kistka. The egg is then dipped in a permanent dye, with the beeswax preventing certain areas from being colored. More beeswax and more colors are layered on top to continue adding to the design When finished, the beeswax is melted off, leaving behind a multicolored egg. The eggs are then varnished to preserve and protect the design.

Decorating them has become a gesture of peace, as the war in Ukraine has brought new meaning to an old tradition that dates back to pre-Christian times.

CLASS SCHEDULE FOR APRIL

I can't draw workshop

 I CAN'T DRAW WORKSHOP by Phil Micheau - April 15th 9 a.m. - 4 p.m. Cost is $35. Bring a lunch

Everyone can draw! What the Drawing 1000 workshop will do is show you how to better see what you want to draw. It is more about helping you see what you are looking at, and where and how to put a mark that represents what you see on the paper, than it is about teaching you how to draw. At the end of the day, you'll be able to draw. Seeing shapes - not things - is the key!
