Tim Hurst

Tim Hurst, a native of Wyandotte, Michigan has always loved art. He studied commercial art and photography at the Henry Ford Community College in Dearborn, Michigan, achieving a two year degree. For the next six years, Tim studied painting, art, and drawing there as well as at the Center for Creative Studies, balancing his career with his love for creating beautiful scenes and landscapes.

After receiving many awards during his career with the Michigan Department of Metal Health, including 1992 Employee of the Year, how dream of having much more time to concentrate on painting is finally coming true.

Moving to Hereford, Arizona in 2006 has given Tim a new landscape to appreciate. He because a ember, then a Board of Directors member of the Sierra Vista based Huachuca Art Association. He was juried into the Tombstone Association of the Arts in 2016. His prize-winning work has found its way into private and corporate art collections on the East Coast, Arizona, Nevada, Texas, England, Scotland, Australia, and the Netherlands. 

Tim's distinguished art awards include:

1983 - 1st Place, Detroit Free Press Black and White Photography

1983 - Special Merit Award, Kodak International Newspaper Snapshot Contest. The photo is now in the collection of the New York Equitable Art Gallery

1984 - 3rd Place, The Detroit Free Press Color Photo Contest

1985 - 1988 won Michigan Department of Mental Health Logo Design and later local union letterhead design

2015 - 2nd Place, Santa Cruz County Fair, (Arizona) Original Art

2016 - 1st Place Acrylic category, 3rd Place and Honorable Mention Tombstone Association of the Arts.

2017 - Tombstone Vigilantes 1st Place, Pro Acrylic and Tombstone Art Association 3rd Place

2017 - San Pedro River Arts (Arizona) Open Show, 2nd Place Pro Acrylic

2018 - 1st Place San Pedro Arts (Arizona) Acrylic Pro

2018 - Huachuca Art Association of Sierra Vista, Arizona 1st Place and an Honorable Mention

2018 - BEST OF SHOW Tombstone Association of the Arts, 1st Place Tombstone Vigilantes, 2nd Place Tombstone Association of the Arts, and 3rd Place award for pro-acrylic artwork.
