Pat Richey

I took a drawing class when I was forty and was hooked.

I took several classes at Arapahoe Community College, Rocky Mountain School of Art and Design, Denver Art Students League, and four months of Botanical Illustration at the Denver Botanic Gardens.

I joined the Brush and Palette Club and the Palisade Artist League, when we moved to Grand Junction. I continued to take classes. I put paintings into shows for the first time.  I won various prizes, including Best of Show twice in the Brush and Palette Show.

When we moved to Sierra Vista, I joined the HAA and eventually tried selling some of my paintings for the first time. I've taught a few watercolor classes at the HAA, but continue to prefer doing oil paintings.

Painting is something I will always love doing, as long as I'm able. It transports me to a happy place!
