Welcome to "The Art Room"!

The  Huachuca Art Association in Sierra Vista

is a non-profit organization of over 300 members committed to encouraging and promoting artistic growth in the community

 with a major emphasis on the visual arts. HAA now introduces an Art Education Program for our community, held at our

 HAA Gallery. The classes will be instructed by:

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Sherry Harig, a new addition to our association. She comes to us from Nevada and has 30 years experience working

 with children and adults. She is an accomplished artist in her own right and has operated her own teaching studio and graphics

 arts business for many years. The work of Sherry’s students has also done well in competitive settings including county fairs,

 school art shows, and community art festivals. Sherry is best know for her large scale public art projects, completing

 approximately 200 large public murals in California, Nebraska and Oklahoma since 1984. She has also completed residencies

 in the Oklahoma School for the Deaf, and many psychiatric programs, juvenile correctional facilities, after school programs,

 and home school workshops.

The classes to be offered are as follows:

Class I 4-6 (1 hour class) An introduction to realistic drawing geared to level of 4 to 6 age. Children learn to recognize lines and shapes and create animals,

still life and characters.

Class II 7 to 9 (1.5 hour class) An introduction to “drawing what you see” to the level of 7 to 9 age. Students will learn to find lines and shapes in the world

around them and how they can draw the images in the visual world. Step-by-step instructions include 2-dimensional images and 3-dimensional objects for the

main subject of a lesson and encourages individual creativity.

Class III 10 to 15 (1.5 hour) An introduction to “drawing what you see” to the level of 10 or older. Step-by-step instructions include 2-dimensional images and

3-dimensional objects for the main subject of a lesson and encourages individual creativity. This class will also develop a fine arts portfolio.


Independent Class IV 10 + (1.5 hour class) This is a class for students who have mastered drawing and various media with a portfolio.


Students are challenged to create projects independently.

Class V Teens & Adults (2 hour class) This is a class that accommodates terrified beginners up to intermediate drawers with a 1-hour lab time for independent

finish up of work.


Individual instruction is given for many levels of confidence. The goal of this class is to introduce all types of materials and styles of drawing.

Fall Schedule

September 2009

Class I  Monday, 3:00 – 4:00 pm

Class II Monday, 4:00 – 5:30 pm

Class III Tuesday, 4:00 – 5:30 pm

Class IV/V Tuesday, 5:30 – 7:00 pm

Open to all ages Wednesday, 4:00 – 5:00 pm
