Gail Fisher, Sierra Vista’s “Artist of the Year 2004” is a professional artist that maintains high quality in her work. She creates her paintingson in acrylic with concentration, planning, research and just plain old work.
Gail has been interested in artwork since high school, where she created posters, set decoration and generally did whatever art work was thrown at her. Things have not changed much in the 50 years in between. Whether designing backdrops, posters, t-shirts, working on a painting or a quilt. She loves the challenge of color and design. The Mississippi Arizona Pageant, the Sierra Vista Symphony, the Chili Appreciation Society International, the Cochise College Choir, and many other civic and charitable organizations have been the recipient of her time and talent. While living in the Midwest and the working for General Telephone, Gail taught decorative painting, but was not able to pursue her career as an artist. After moving to Arizona in 1996, she was juried into “Art in the Park” which she did for 15 years. Though she has experimented with most mediums, it is through acrylic that she seems most able to develop the use of color and humor in her painting.
